Replacing the bulbs in the Saab 9000 heater control panel


Introduction

On Saab 9000 models fitted with manual heater controls, the control panel is illuminated by two small bulbs, fitted behind the panel. When the bulbs fail, they are replaceable by removing the panel.

The replacement bulb is a type 286 capless bulb, 12V 1.2W. 

Time required

Around 10 minutes.

Tools required

  • Torx® T10 screwdriver.

Procedure

  1. Remove the heater control knobs from the panel by pulling them off.

  2. Using a Torx® T10 screwdriver, remove the two screws securing the front panel and remove it.

  3. Lift away the blue plastic diffuser.

  4. Pull out the bulb-holders.

  5. Remove the bulbs from the holders and fit replacements.

  6. Refit the bulb-holders.

  7. Refit the diffuser.

  8. Refit the front panel and secure with the screws.

  9. Refit the heater control knobs.
